On Thursday 7th August 1997 I visited Harry at his Bonsai studio near Nottingham.
He has a very impressive set up, large grounds, wide open spaces, an excellent choice of young and old bonsai trees for sale and a very impressive personal collection.
He and his small staff were busy preparing for his special event week which began on the Friday. Unfortunately my tight schedule prevented me from being there during the event itself.
This is a photographic impression of my visit.

Harry and Dan Roberts pose elegantly in the compound. Dan's drinking tea ... is that a beer bottle in Harry's hand? |
Harry not only has lots of bonsais, but also a sense of humour.
Because Bonsai's should be viewed in peace and tranquility he, sensibly, expects parents to keep their children under control. To empasise this he has placed a couple of signs.
| All unruly children will be shot |
| Well behaved children may ask for a free gift at the cash desk |
The first one speaks for itself, but the joke in the second one is that the well behaved children DON'T ask for a free gift, and the badly behaved ones DO !!!
